Can Draconies mate? Or rather can they reproduce with others of their own kind or either of their parent types?

Spike has Peewee the phoenix who should live possibly even longer than Spike will.

and now I realized that Spike will see both his wife and daughter die because of the age difference
eyup. but with any luck twilight becomes the next immortal princess so he’ll at least have someone to complain to.
How did you come up with those age assumptions?
like i said, for ponies, going by granny smith and how twilight said they have wrapped up winter in ponyville traditionally for hundreds of years. now granny was there at the founding and she also knew diamond tiara’s great-grandfather(!), so she’s gotta be OLD.
now dragons can take 100 year naps without greater problems, so they gotta get OLD too.
and draconies is simply taking a relative medium that leans closer towards the pony age.

edit: and even if it turns out ponies don’t live that long, i’ll stick with draconies getting at least 500.

I recently bought a tablet(In-part because I love your work!), and I've been trying to get past the lineart phase and into coloring with it. I've never been very good at shading, and it shows in digital art. A lot of your drawings look great with minimal or no shading and very simple palettes, do you have any advice on the matters?

things i can think of at the moment: if you have warm light, use a cold shadow, and vice versa. (unless you want to push the “picture temperature” into the extremes - say, making a scene look extremely hot). experiment. a layer set to multiply (in photoshop) is great here because you can use colour sliders to change the hue whenever you want. personally i have an easier time putting everything into shadow at first and then erasing out the highlights.

in regard to palettes for characters, i would NOT recommend using complementary colours, the contrast is usually too great. oh yeah, never use pure black. far too strong and just seems unnatural.

Everything. Sometimes more from this, sometimes more from that. It varies from day to day. A healthy mix of all three is what keeps things interesting.
Maybe burglar pony is stealing so he can help nurse pony pay for medical school.
i was thinking more along the lines of nurse pony doesn’t want her brother to steal and often ends up treating him. drama all around.
